wasn’t looking forward to the 12 hour overnight bus journey to get to they coast. Overnight buses are one of my least favourite things about traveling, yet not long after I got on I fell fast asleep waking in the jewel of the Caribbean Coast, Cartagena.

While we were on a strict timeframe (time kinda slipped away from us in Medellin) we still got to spend a day looking around the beautiful old town. Cute houses, shops and cafés lined the streets and were multicoloured with matching balconies.
The entire old town was surrounded by an old wall, fortifying the city back in the day.
As is becoming customary, we did ridiculous poses 🙂
Even after all the beauty of the old city, I would have to say that one of my highlights of Cartagena involved champagne. Since leaving Argentina I have been craving good wine and even better, champagne. I managed to convince the others (mainly Emma!) that a champagne afternoon would be a great idea, so we hightailed it to the beautiful outdoor garden of the Sofitel.

Our afternoon was further enhanced by a much welcome visitor, the resident toucan. I hadn’t seen a toucan up that close so was stoked to be able to get so near and take some great photos.

(No one was interested in the camera when the toucan was around)
